Britain's Got Talent Winners Land Wireless Slot

Britain's Got Talent winners, Diversity, have landed themselves a slot at Wireless Festival after being crowned winners this weekend, beating off fierce competition from Susan Boyle.

The act will perform on the Sunday 5th July, alongside such acts as Kanye West and The Noisettes.

Loads of bands added to Latitude Fesival

Loads more acts have been added to the Latitude Festival lineup.

The acts include comedians, writers and performing artists.

"St Etienne and The Temper Trap will join the likes of The Gossip, Bat For Lashes, Squeeze and more in the Uncut Arena, while Kap Bambino will play Sunrise Arena alongside Passion Pit and Little Boots," announced Virtual Festivals.

Glastonbury Launch New Website

Glastonbury have relaunched their official festival website and given it a huge face lift.

I must say I thought the design of the last site was very poor, but they seem to have pulled their socks up this time!

Rolling Stones and U2 Out Of Glastonbury

Emily Eavis has confirmed that both The Rolling Stones and U2, will not be at Glastonbury Festival 2009.

The news came in a recent interview.

Limp Bizkit Confirmed for Download Festival 2009

Limp Bizkit have now been confirmed for Download Festival 2009. The band had already been rumoured to be hitting the UK this summer.

They are also rumoured for the Leeds and Reading Festival this year, but this seems less likely now.

Tom Jones Hints at Glastonbury Slot

Tom Jones has revealed that he would 'love' to play Glastonbury Festival 2009. The artists last played back in 1992, and is keen to make a return.

More Acts Rumoured For Leeds and Reading Festival

Greenday, Kings of Leon and Arctic Monkeys are all now heavily rumoured for the Leeds and Reading Festival weekends.

Both Greenday and Arctic Monkeys have new material coming out in the new year, and the Kings of Leon continue to promote their latest album, "Only by the Night."

Glastonbury Tickets Sell Out

The second batch of Glastonbury tickets have now officially sold out, say Glastonbury organisers.

You still have one more chance to get hold of tickets for the event. The final batch will go on sale on the 5th April 2009.

You will however have to be registered before March 31st.

Madstock to Return After 11 Year Break

Madness' own festival Madstock, is to return next summer after a break of 11 years.

The event that will take place in London Victoria Park this summer, was last held back in the summer of 1998.

Madness will also be celebrating their 30 year anniversary at the festival, marking 30 years since they released their first single, 'The Prince.'

Their brand new album, 'The Liberty Of Norton Folgate' is set to be realeased in March 2009.

The Specials Rumoured For Glastonbury Festival

Terry Hall, the lead singer of The Specials has admitted that it would 'be nice' to play Glastonbury Festival in June 2009.

"The last time I played at Glastonbury was 1983, 1984 so it would be nice to do it," he told BBC 6Music.

T in the Park Increases Capacity

T in the Park has confirmed that its capacity for 2009 will increase by 5 000, taking the total capacity to 85 000 people.

Campers will now also be able to camp on the Thursday night, in the hope that this will decrease traffic jams over the weekend.

Neil Young For Glastonbury, Say eFestivals

eFestivals have published that they think Neil Young will steal a headline slot at this years Glastonbury Festival.

Virtual Festivals had previously announced that they believe Coldplay will take the Friday night slot at this years festival, but eFestivals say it will be Young.

Slipknot Rumoured for Leeds and Reading Festival

Slipknot could be making an apperance at Leeds and Reading Festival, after the band admitted, they would 'love to play,' in a recent interview with Kerrang.

They were rumoured to rock both festivals last year, but eventually didn't play.

However, Other sources have suggested that the band will choose a headlining slot at the more heavy metal orientated Download Festival.

Metallic Rumoured To Play New Knebworth Festival

Virtual Festivals have reported that Metallica are a strong rumour for a brand new festival in Knebworth.

Coordinator of live music at Knebworth, Martha Lytton sparked off much speculation when she admitted Knebworth would "Entertain holding a festival."

The festival, which looks pretty much set to take place at Hertfordshire stately home in July 2009, will go into direct competition with Download festival, and feature a rock orientated collection of bands.

Red Hot Chili Peppers and Muse are also rumored for the festival after they were apparently approached by the festival organisers as well.

Jools Holland an Status Quo Confirm Forest Tour

Jools Holland and Status Quo have both confirmed that they will play the Forest Commission Tour next year.

Jools Holland and his Rhythm 'n' Blues Orchestra have confirmed the Thetford Forest on 6th June 2009 and Status Quo have confirmed Bedgebury Pinetum on the 6th June respectively.

Quo's Francis Rossi commented on the confirmation and said, "We played to three sold-out forest shows last summer and we are delighted Bedgebury Pinetum is part of our touring plans for 09. It will be a happy return to the venue where we last performed to a capacity crowd in 2003."

T Iin the Park Ticket Warning From BBC

The BBC are warning fans of T in the Park to stay away from fake ticket sellers and wesbsites.

In particular, a Hungarian based website (www.tinthepark2009.com), who claim to be selling tickets for the event, should under no circumstances be trusted they say.

Do not give them any of your credit card details, or any of your hard earned pennies!

Coldplay, and Franz Ferdinand have both been rumoured for the festival so far.

Headliners Confirmed For Glastonbury 2009?

Virtual Festivals have revealed that they think they know the three headlining acts for Glastonbury Festival 2009.

The three bands they named were Coldplay, Blur and Bruce Springsteen.

Blur are almost certain, say the popular festival website, after news that they are to reform in time for the summer of 2009.

The site also published that they think coldplay will take the same Friday night slot on the pyramid stage, as they did in 2002.

Springsteen looks likely as he has a brand new album coming out in January 2009, and also Eavis has been after him playing for quite some time.

No Left Field at Glastonbury Festival 2009

The Left Field tent will no longer be a feature of the World famous Glastonbury festival.

The announcement was made at the premier of "Glastonbury Left Field 2008, the movie."

A spokes person for Glastonbury also told eFestivals that,

"Glastonbury Festival is constantly evolving. Although the Left Field area will not be happening next year in its current format, Glastonbury always likes to spring surprises, so at this point we can't confirm exactly what new element and areas will make up the 2009 Festival. We will be making announcements about new attractions in the new year."

It will be interesting to see what they come up with.

AC/DC Will Not Rock T In The Park

It has been confirmed that AC/DC will not be playing at T in the Park.

Rumours were circulating that the Australian rock band would be rocking the Scottish festival after The Sun reported them as confirmed.

"I can confirm that AC/DC will not be playing at T In The Park 2009," said Geoff Ellis, organiser of the festival.

T in the Park is set to take place from July 10-12, 2009.

Glade Festival To Move Home

Glade Festival is to move from its home of 5 year.

The new site still remains a secret, but it is believed that the festival organisers are looking at sites in Southern England, after restrictions meant it could no longer carry on in Berkshire.

Ans Guise, Glade's Marketing Director explained to eFestivals "We're looking at a couple of places in the south of England that fulfil our needs... though haven't signed off on anything and are keeping our options open for now."

It has also been revealed that the festival will take on a much more intimate feeling this year, with many of the larger stages being replaces with smaller tents and in door areas.

Is is confirmed that Glade Festival will run from Thursday 16th until Sunday 19th July 2009.

Wyclef Jean Rumoured For Glastonbury Festival 2009

Wyclef Jean could be making an appearance at Glastonbury Festival 2009. The singer and songwriter explained recently on ITN

"I'd do the festival. I like mud actually."

The Cure Could Be Hitting British Festivals

The Cure could be hitting some major British Festivals this summer.

The band have announced that they are to release a brand new album at the start of 2009 and they have also confirmed are to be crowned Godlike Geniuses at the Shockwaves NME Awards in February.

Look out for them popping up on festival forums and sites over the next few months!

First Acts Named For Big Chill 2009

The first few acts have been named for the Big Chill weekend 2009.

The festival organisers were apparently 'Thrilled to bits,' to confirm the first headlining act as the reformed, grand-masters of English electronica Orbital.

They will headline the Open Air Stage on Saturday.

Here are the other confirmed acts so far:

Basement Jaxx, Pharoah, Sanders Calexico, Friendly Fires, Ludovico Einaudi, Norman Jay, Summer of Dub, John Hegley, Alice Russel, Favela Chic
Sean Hughes, Horse Meat Disco, Wonky Pop

The Big Chill will run from 7th - 9th August 2009, and tickets can be booked here.

Blink 182 Rumours Surround British Festivals

Blink 182 are rumoured to make an appearance at a major British festival this summer, after news that the band may reform in the near future.

NME recently interviews Mark Hoppus and he suggested the band may get back together after splitting up in 2005.

Hopppus also commented about drummer Barker's plane crash, explaining how it was 'nothing short of amazing' watching his speedy recovery.

The band are now rumoured for slots at the Reading and Leeds Festival Weekend as well as Donnington's, Download festival.

Emily Eavis Reveals News On Glastonbury 2009

Emily Eavis has spoken out about the planning for Glastonbury Festival 2009 this week, in an interview for the official website.

She answered a number of questions about how things were progressing and how plans were going.

Well, we're seven months away from the Festival so we're right in the middle of bookings at the moment. It's a really exciting time because there are some amazing bands on the agenda. It's looking like being a particularly good year for us. Momentous even.

T in the Park 'Gold Dust' Tickets Sold Out

As mentioned previously in this blog, T in the Park released a number of 'Gold Dust' tickets, as a thank you to fans for voting for the festival at this years Festival awards.

The 20 000 'Gold Dust' tickets only lasted a record 25mins and are now sold out.

If you are looking to get hold of tickets for the event don't worry! More tickets for T in the Park will be released nearer the festival, but for now they are no longer on sale.

T in the Park takes place on the 10,11 and 12th of July 2009.

Bestival Space Theme Now Confirmed

Organisers of Bestival have today confirmed that the theme for Bestival 2009 is indeed Space.

"It's only been three months since we peeled off our underwater outfits at Bestival 2008 but we've had so many requests to get on and announce the theme for 2009 that we gave in!" announced Rob Da Bank.

"I'm tweaking the exact title as we speak but due to popular demand from our ever busy forum and the fact that next year is the 40th anniversary since Man landed on the moon, it's a Space theme," he then later confirmed in an interview with Virtual Festivals.

Space Spectacular Theme For Bestival 2009

Anyone that has been to Bestival or has heard of it, will know that the fancy dress aspect is legendary.

It has been rumoured by a reliable news source, that the fancy dress theme will be a 'Space Spectacular' for the 2009 festival.

Get rooting through your fancy dress draws to see what metallic materials you can get your hands on!

Kaiser Chiefs Rumoured For Reading and Leeds Festival

The Kaiser Chiefs are the latest band to be added to the extensive list of rumours for the Leeds and Reading Festival weekends.

It is know that the band have a new album coming out soon, and we are sure that they will want to promote it at both the events.

So far they do not have any tour dates booked for the UK in 2009, but after a year abroad they will more than likely return home to play some gigs.

Klaxons Want British Festival Slots

The Klaxons have announced that they want as many British Festival slots as possible this year, after the end of their recent tour in Eastern Europe and Latin America.

The band are already down as a rumour for the Leeds and Reading Festival weekends, so this news only strengthens that.

They also have a new album recorded which is supposed to be released in time for Christmas 2008.

Kings of Leon Confirmed For Reading and Leeds, Say Virtual Festivals

Virtual Festivals have reported that the Kings of Leon are as good as confirmed for the Leeds and Reading Festival weekend 2009.

"A trusted source told us: "Kings Of Leon are definitely playing. They last played Reading and Leeds in 2007, second on the bill, and really should have been headliners then. They blew (headliners) Razorlight away.

"They love playing UK festivals and are really keen to get back with the new album ('Only By The Night')."

Hop Farm Festival Refused Licence

Plans to increase the capacity of Hop Farm Festival have been rejected by Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council.

The licence was apparently refused "on the grounds there was a lack of information from the applicant, although the existing licence is not effected."

100 local residents had also apparently expressed great concern about what the festival would do to the surrounding area if the capacity was extended.

Organiser of Hop Farm Festival Vince Power, had planned to turn the annual one day event in to a full blown three day festival with a capacity of 53 000 people.

Beyonce Hints at Glastonbury Slot

Beyonce has hinted at playing at Glastonbury Festival in an interview this week.

The Superstar and singer explained how she watched her husband's (Jay-z) performance last year and how she loved the atmosphere of the festival in general. Her only complaint was the lack of mud!

"It would be really amazing [to play glastonbury]" she added. "I would love to do it."

Kings Of Leon Hot For Healine Slot at Leeds

The Kings of Leon look tipped for a Headline slot at this years Leeds and Reading festivals. Many sources on the web are reporting that the band will snatch one of the headline slots, including the official leeds festival forums.

With new material and such constant media attention no-one dares to rule them out, however at this stage it is still speculation.

Other strong rumours for the Headline slots include AC/DC, Greenday, Oasis and Muse.

Razorlight Want Glastonbury Headline Slot

Razorlight have revealed that they want to headline Glastonbury Festival 2009. Drummer Andy Burrors declared the bands desire in a recent interview.

The band last played the festival in 2005 but haven't been asked back since.

"We [would] love to headline Glastonbury. It is easily one of the greatest festivals in the world. It would be amazing if we ever got the chance to do that - amazing." said Burrows.

First Act Confirmed For Glastonbury Festival 2009

The first act has been confirmed for Glastonbury Festival 2009. The four piece band, "Major Major" from Liverpool were confirmed after winning the "Rockstar Bands" competition.

The event took place in a nearby town called Pilton and was put on by Micheal Eavis to thank the local residents for putting up with Glastonbury every year.

T in the Park To Release 'Gold Dust' Tickets

T in the Park is to release a limited number of tickets before tickets officially go on sale. These tickets are known as 'Gold Dust' tickets, and they will be released on Friday 28th November.

Organisers of the festival say that the small pre-sale of tickets is to thanks fans for voting T in the Park as "Best line-up" at this years UK Festival awards.

Glastonbury Festival 2008 Made £0

Micheal Eavis confirmed to BBC Radio 6, that Glastonbury Festival 2008 did not make any profits.

"We still made about a million pounds for the charities we work for, so we actually achieved a million but we didn't make any beyond that. There's no money to reinvest or anything. Having said that, it's the first year in 39 years that we didn't make anything out of it, so it's not bad really is it."

Eavis went on to say that he believes the lack of profits were down to rising prices over the summer period, in particular the rising fuel costs.

He also confirmed that each Glastonbury Festival costs a staggering £22million (and rising!).

Glastonbury Cleans Up At Festival Awards

Glastonbury Festival has cleaned up at this years UK Festival awards.

The world famous Festival took home Most Memorable Moment, Best Festival and also of course, Eavis walked away with an award for Outstanding Contribution to the Festival Industry.

Eavis commented about the winnings after the awards were presented saying, "Glastonbury just keeps getting better and you'll see that again next year."

Rumours for Glastonbury 2009 include Kings of Leon, Ting Tings and many more.

Volunteers Needed From Leeds and Reading Festival

Organisers of Leeds and Reading Festival, Festival Republic, are offering people that went to Leeds and Reading a unique opportunity to complete voluntary work abroad.

Week long voluntary opportunities are available, and tasks include house building in Albania and School building in Thailand.

All expenses will be paid for by Festival Republic. This includes Travel, food and accommodation.

Eavis To Recieve Award For Glastonbury

Micheal Eavis, organiser of the world famous Glastonbury Festival is to receive an award for his"Outstanding Contribution" to the British Festival industry.

Staggeringly, Eavis has organised Glastonbury Festival since 1981 and it has now become one of the biggest and best music festivals that the world has to offer, attracting people from as far as America and Australia.

As well as Eavis's award, Glastonbury Festival itself has also been nominated for many awards at the UK Festival Awards including Best Festival and Best Festival Line-up.

The award ceromony takes place on the 30th October 2008 and voting has now closed.

Eminem Return Looks Britain Bound

Controversial rapper and produced Eminem is set to make a full return in the summer of 2009, and many rumours suggest that he will be making it at a British Festival.

Although he has admitted he is not currently ready to tour, his new album Relapse is set to be released very soon.

After the surprise performance of Jay-z at Glastonbury Festival 2008, all eyes and ears are now open and ready for the news of Eminem playing a big British Festival.

Download Festival To Stay At Donington

Organisers of the rock festival Download, have confirmed that the festival will stay at Donington Park for 2009.

Many rumours were suggesting a move after the festival changed location this year.

Download organisers release an official statement on the Donington website saying, "After much speculation, we are delighted to confirm we're back at Donington, loud and proud - just like a Marshall Amp turned up to 11!"

Sperm Donors Offered Free Festival Tickets

Sperm donors across Europe are being given free Festival tickets as payment for their contributions to the Irish sperm reserve, as part of a new initiative.

It has been reported this year that sperm reserves are dwindling and donations have fallen by around 30 - 40%.

The contributors get free passes or tickets to a European Festival of their choice if they complete the task.

Shoot The Summer - The First Festival Movie!

"Shoot The Summer" is a film about festivals shot entirely on mobile phones. Throughout the summer of 2008, the "Shoot The Summer" team filmed at 7 different festivals and gave out phones to audience members and bands with one instruction, "film whatever you want".

Radio 1 producer Hugh Garry went around many British events handing out the mobiles to crowd members and bands. Funnily enough every single one that was handed out was also returned packed full of footage.

Garry said, "Giving the audience and artists the brief to 'film whatever you want' was risky but I think it paid off. At the start we were concerned that we'd get nothing but clips of bored bands on tour buses and wasted kids in tents, but Shoot the Summer is anything but."

Smiths To Reform For Coachella 2009?

The British tabloid news paper, The Sun has stated that The Smiths are close to a deal that will see them reform and then play Coachella Festival 2009.

"It has looked impossible in the past but suddenly it all looks like it could happen. The buzz around the people who used to work for the band is they could play Coachella for a ludicrous amount of money."

Glade Festival Release Early Bird Tickets

Glade Festival has released a certain number of early bird tickets for the 2009 festival.

Tickets to one of Britain's largest Dance Festivals, go on sale at the special marked down price of £115. £10 cheaper than buying the tickets nearer to the festival.

The festival runs from 16-19 July 2009 and be warned, there are only 1000 of the early bird tickets on sale!

Rolf Harris Confirmed For Glastonbury Festival 2009

Rolf Harris confirmed himself for Glastonbury Festival 2009 this weekend. The Australian singer and songwriter announced the slot on Dermot O'leary's BBC Radio 2 show on Saturday.

Ting Tings Likely For Glastonbury Festival 2009

Glastonbury Festival 2009 has reported that the Ting Tings are very likely for the next Glastonbury Festival.

The band have had recent success with their debut album, "We started nothing," and have played major British festivals over this summer.
